District 6 Council Member officially announces run for re-election

Current Cape Coral Council Member Rick Williams has officially announced his bid for re-election to the Cape Coral City Council, District 6 which he first won in 2013.

Originally from Connecticut, Williams has been a resident of Cape Coral for 13 years.

According to his press release, Williams says over the past four years of serving as an elected leader of the city, he has been the voice of common sense policies on the council and as Mayor Pro Tem, tackling the city’s most pressing short- and long-term needs.

City ends one day a week watering restrictions

Cape Coral City Manager John Szerlag announced Friday afternoon that the city is rescinding its one day per week lawn watering restrictions.

The restrictions were put in place in early May due to recent drought conditions in Southwest Florida that saw Cape Coral canal water levels receding to dangerously low levels.
