CCPD Traffic Enforcement Update (July 13)

The Cape Coral Police Department Traffic Unit is providing this notice as part of their continuing efforts to increase traffic safety awareness and education.

These daily notices (Monday-Friday) will identify possible locations that the department are conducting enforcement operations and results from the previous day's operation.

All is being done by the department to emphasize the importance of obeying traffic laws to reduce traffic crashes, injuries, and deaths on our roads here in Cape Coral.

3200 block of Country Club Blvd. expected to reopen this afternoon

The city is reporting that the northbound lanes in the 3200 block of Country Club will reopen today at 3:00pm.  

The northbound lanes have been closed since Monday morning when an irrigation main break caused damage to Country Club Boulevard. 

The break spilled a significant amount of reclaimed wastewater into the road and neighboring residential properties causing damage to about 25 to 30 feet of the right lane of northbound Country Club Boulevard as well as a stretch of sidewalks at the same location.

Cape Coral Election 2017- Candidates for City Council (District 4)

Three candidates make up the field for the District 4 City Council race.

Incumbent Richard Leon is seeking to serve a second term as the District 4 City Council Member. Leon, was first elected in 2013 and has been a vocal member of the city council over the past four years.

Joining Leon in the race are two newcomers, Jeff Jones and Jennifer Nelson.

Jones enters the race after working 25 years as a Cape Coral Police Officer.

Cape Coral Election 2017- Candidates for City Council (District 1)

This election, there are four candidates running for the District 1 City Council seat.

Included in the field is incumbent Jim Burch, who was first elected to the District 1 position in 2007. Burch served a year in the seat and then took over the vacant mayor position until 2009. He ran again for the position in 2013 and was victorious.

'SOS- Feed the Cape' campaign to kick off this Thurs., July 13

This Thursday, July 13, the Cape Coral Caring Center will kick off its annual "SOS: Save Our Summer- Feed the Cape" campaign at Dixie Roadhouse.

In its fifth year, the campaign raises funds and donations for the caring center, who, in turn, distributes food and other items to those in need throughout Cape Coral during the summer months.

Water main break causes closure for part of Country Club Blvd.

An irrigation main break earlier this morning has caused damage to Country Club Boulevard. 

A 20-inch main break spilled a significant amount of reclaimed wastewater into the road and neighboring residential properties. The water damaged about 25 to 30 feet of the right lane of northbound Country Club Boulevard as well as a stretch of sidewalks at the same location. 

City crews have been working since this morning to repair the break and fix the road damage.

Cape Coral Election 2017- Candidates for Mayor

This past Friday marked the conclusion of the qualifying period for candidates in the upcoming Cape Coral election.

After the final paperwork was submitted, citizens will have eighteen candidates in five separate races to choose from in the upcoming primary election, scheduled for September, 12.

The election is highlighted by the race for Cape Coral Mayor, which will field seven candidates. Also, voters will also elect council members to represent the city's districts one, four, five, and six.
