CCPD Traffic Enforcement Update (Mar. 15)

The Cape Coral Police Department Traffic Unit is providing this notice as part of their continuing efforts to increase traffic safety awareness and education.

These daily notices (Monday-Friday) will identify possible locations that the department are conducting enforcement operations and results from the previous day's operation.

All is being done by the department to emphasize the importance of obeying traffic laws to reduce traffic crashes, injuries, and deaths on our roads here in Cape Coral.

Lee County JROTC Drill Competition displays best of best

This past Saturday, JROTC teams from 14 Lee County high schools and two Lee County middle schools converged on the football field at Mariner High School to compete in the annual Lee County School District JROTC Drill and Color Guard Competition.

Cadets in this year's event competed in 19 different individual and team events in male, female, and mixed categories. The top two finishers in each event earned a spot in the 2016-2017 state finals.

Cape Coral in Pictures: Wicked Dolphin's Decades Party- 1950's Shelter House Rock

On Saturday, Cape Coral's Wicked Dolphin Distillery hosted its annual Decades Party.

In its third year, the event shines a light on a decade in America's history.

This year, the event traveled back in time to the 1950's as the distillery was transformed into a sock hop at the high school gym featuring music from the birth of Rock n' Roll, poodle skirts, leather jackets, white t-shirts, blue jeans, and plenty of good times.

The evening was filled with dance contests, costume contests, silent auctions, live auctions, raffles, and more.

Cape Fire Dept. to host SKYWARN Spotter Training, Mar. 16

The Cape Coral Fire Department Division of Emergency Management will be hosting a SKYWARN Severe Weather Spotter training this Thursday, March 16.

The training will take place at City Hall in the City Council Chambers (1015 Cultural Park Blvd.) from 10:00am to 11:30am.

Mayor Sawicki to host monthly 'Night Out' town hall event Mar. 15

Mayor Marni Sawicki will host her monthly “Mayor’s Night Out” on Wednesday, March 15.

The event will be held at Chester Street Resource Center. 

Mayor Sawicki will be available to discuss city issues with citizens from 5:00pm to 7:00pm. The public is invited to stop by and share their thoughts and ideas with the mayor. 

Chester Street Resource Center is located at 4816 Chester Street.

Parks & Rec kicks off 'Click & Capture Cape Coral Photo Contest'

Calling all professional and amateur photographers.

The Cape Coral Parks & Recreation Department is kicked off it’s spring "Click & Capture Cape Coral Photo Contest" on Friday, March 10.

Digital photo entries will be accepted through a contest tab on the Parks & Recreation Facebook page from March 10 through April 30, 2017.

Cape Coral in Pictures: Gathering of the Giants 2017

Over the weekend, the Cape Coral R/Seahawks hosted their annual Gathering of the Giants air show.

During the two-day event, pilots from around the country and their radio controlled aircrafts lined the club's airfield in Northwest Cape Coral anxiously awaiting the opportunity to thrill the crowd with their high in the sky acrobatics.

This was the twenty-third year the club has hosted the event, and over 50 pilots participated in the event making it one of the larger air shows in recent memory.
