CCPD Traffic Enforcement Update (June 20)

The Cape Coral Police Department Traffic Unit is providing this notice as part of their continuing efforts to increase traffic safety awareness and education.

These daily notices (Monday-Friday) will identify possible locations that the department are conducting enforcement operations and results from the previous day's operation.

All is being done by the department to emphasize the importance of obeying traffic laws to reduce traffic crashes, injuries, and deaths on our roads here in Cape Coral.

Council Member Cosden to host town hall meeting tonight at City Hall

Cape Coral City Council Member Jessica Cosden will host a town hall meeting tonight.

The meeting will take place inside Council Chambers at City Hall beginning at 4:30pm. Citizens are encouraged to attend and share their issues and questions with the District Seven Council Member..

This will be the first town hall meeting hosted by Cosden since being elected in November 2015.

Cape Coral Police to conduct DUI operation Saturday night

The Cape Coral Police Department will conduct another High Visibility Enforcement (HVE) operation this Saturday evening.

The operation is part of the department's Impaired Driving Project.

The goal of the Impaired Driving Project is to conduct special HVE operations focused on impaired driving in an effort to reduce crashes, injuries, and fatalities attributable to impaired driving.

The operation will be a citywide saturation patrol that will take place throughout the evening.

UEP North 2 construction set to begin in August- What you need to know

Shovels will soon be in the ground as the city is set to begin the latest phase of its Utilities Expansion Project.

The city council paved the way for the North 2 phase of the UEP to start in early August by voting unanimously to approve three resolutions that set the assessments for potable water, wastewater, and irrigation.

North 2 will be the first phase of the UEP north of Pine Island Road, which is the geographical center point of Cape Coral.

The city completed the final UEP phase south of Pine Island Road in 2015.

District 6 Council Member officially announces run for re-election

Current Cape Coral Council Member Rick Williams has officially announced his bid for re-election to the Cape Coral City Council, District 6 which he first won in 2013.

Originally from Connecticut, Williams has been a resident of Cape Coral for 13 years.

According to his press release, Williams says over the past four years of serving as an elected leader of the city, he has been the voice of common sense policies on the council and as Mayor Pro Tem, tackling the city’s most pressing short- and long-term needs.
