Whether it's finding events for the family or a night out with friends, here you will find details on a few of the events taking place in Cape Coral over the weekend in a quick and simple format.

Below are five events taking place across Cape Coral this weekend.


Cape Cops 5K 2017 (Saturday)

The Cape Coral Police Department will hold its annual Cape Cops 5K and Kids Fun Run this Saturday at the Cape Coral Yacht Club, located at 5819 Driftwood Parkway.

The race is held in conjunction with National Police Week.

Race day registration begins at 6:30am with the race taking place at 7:30am. The course starts at the Yacht Club and takes runners through surrounding neighborhoods. Refreshments will be served following the race.

Awards will be given to top finishers in a number of categories. All racers will receive a "Participation Medal" regardless of finish.

The cost to participate in the race is $15 for youth and $25 for adults who pre-register by May 19. The cost is $35 to register the day of the event. All participants will receive a t-shirt and goody bag. To register, visit www.ftmyerstrackclub.com.

There will also be a Kids Fun Run immediately following the 5K. The Kids Fun Run is free to children under 12 years of age.

All proceeds from the event will go to assist families of fallen or injured police officers.

Food Truck Friday at Scotty's Bierworks (Friday)

Join Cape Coral's newest brew pub Scotty's Bierworks for their Food Truck Friday event on May 19.

During the event, the parking lot will be filled with food trucks including; Red Roc Cravings, Ma Petite Creperie, Doner Kebab King Karl, and Slider City. Also, there will be live music by Skyler Enrico from 6:30pm to 9:30pm.

The event will take place this Friday, May 19 from 5:00pm to 10:00pm. Scotty's Bierworks is located at 901 East Industrial Circle #1-3, just off Pondella Road.

Hands Across the Sand Cape Coral (Saturday)

This Saturday, millions across the world will join together for the annual Hands Across the Sand event to promote clean water and energy.

In Florida, the Senate recently passed that will accelerate the planning and provides funding for the Everglades Agricultural Area (EAA) Reservoir.

Cape Coral residents are hoping to keep the pressure on for clean water and clean energy by once again participating in the worldwide Hands Across the Sand event.

Participants will be at the beach at 11:30am by the boat ramp at the Yacht Club painting banners. Then at 12:00pm, they will join hands from the boat ramp to the pier.

Organizers are asking all to join them to show their commitment to local and state leaders for clean water and clean energy in Southwest Florida.

Cape Coral Farmers Market at Cape Harbour (Saturday)

This weekend, the Cape Coral Farmers Market hosted by the Chamber of Commerce of Cape Coral begins its summer run at Cape Harbour.

While it is a new location, many of the vendors remain the same.

Find all the veggies, crafts, delicious foods and finds and fabulous vendors that make the Chamber of Commerce of Cape Coral a favorite Southwest Florida farmers' market.

Cape Harbour is one of Cape Corals’ premiere destinations for shopping, dining and relaxing. Now, every Saturday, it will also be filled the freshest produce, pickles and olives, meats, Gulf-fresh seafood, guacamole, breads, handmade soaps, homemade dog treats and much more for your summer shopping needs. “Market Bucks” will be available at this location for your convenience and as always, we are an EBT/SNAP authorized market.

The market is located at 5785 Cape Harbour Dr., south of Cape Coral Pkwy., and will be open every Saturday through September.

Sunshine & Bullets and Polar Summer at Rack'em (Saturday)

Sunshine & Bullets will make their way to Cape Coral this weekend for a concert at Rack'em Spirits & Times.

The trio from Tampa is an active rock band with male and female lead vocals, experimenting within the hard rock genre, creating atmospheric hard rock/industrial/progressive/metal with hypnotic harmonies and dark, driving groove.

The band has been featured on Bubba the Love Sponge show, and one of their tracks was voted “Song of the Year” on the Rock Solid Pressure Show.

In addition to Sunshine & Bullets, Polar Summer will also take the stage.

The event will take place this Saturday beginning at 9:00pm at Rack'em Spirits & Times, located at 1011 SE 47th Terrace.
