Cape Coral 5K Zombie Invasion (Saturday)

Cape Coral's second annual 5K Fun Run will be invaded by a horde of flesh hungry zombies stumbling through the nature trails of Rotary Park.

The zombie horde is expected to invade the park once again on Saturday, May 13.

Register for this unique twist on the traditional 5K, and choose to run/walk the course as a human, in which you will be given a life belt with three flags (or chances to remain human). Finish the race with at least one flag, and you have survived the zombie apocalypse. (Finish the race with no flags, and you are now infected, and we all know it's just a matter of time).

Register as a zombie and undergo a make-up transformation at the transformation station before the race begins (please come already in costume, only make-up will be provided) As a zombie, you will be assigned to designated areas throughout the course and will be expected to run, crawl, or stumble to collect the life flags from the humans. There will be prize categories for both humans and zombies.

The cost to participate as a human or a zombie is $30 for those ages ten and older and $15 for those younger than ten years of age.

This event is a "fun run" and is not an officially timed event. There will be prizes for the zombie who collects the most flags and the first human to cross the finish line with all three lifebelts intact.

In addition to the run, there will also be a costume contest with prizes, food, photo ops, and more surprises.

Spectators are welcome free of charge.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the Cape Coral Caring Center.
