On Friday, May 5, the Cape Coral Construction Industry Association (CCCIA) held its annual Spring Classic golf scramble at Palmetto Pine.

This year marked the third year the event was sponsored by Wayne Automatic Fire Sprinklers.

Despite a forecast of early morning rain, 120 golfers came out to participate in the event, and none were disappointed as the rain held off, and teams of four were able to make their way through the entire 18-hole event, "It was pretty amazing that with all the forecasts of rain it held off, and we didn’t even see one drop," says CCCIA Executive Director Bill Johnson, Jr.

In fact, Johnson says, the only weather change was a benefit to all involved in the golf scramble, "It turned out to be a benefit. Everybody ended up having a blast because the overcast weather helped cool things off and gave everybody a break from the typical Southwest Florida spring heat."

Money raised from the event goes to supporting the CCCIA, which was created in 1971 to represent the Cape Coral building industry locally and at the state and federal level.
