Fish and Ships Gallery Show Reception (Thursday)

Join the Cape Coral Art League for their final show of the season.

To end things on a high note, the organization is hosting the "Fish and Ships Gallery Show Reception"  this Thursday.

This exciting and unique gallery show includes water-life, aquatic animals & creatures, as well as ships, boats, and watercraft of every kind.

In addition to the fantastic artwork on display, there will also be wine and hors d'oeuvres served during the reception.

The Fish and Ships Gallery Show Reception will take place this Thursday, May 4 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at the Cape Coral Art League, located at 516 Cultural Park Blvd.

Cinco de FINS Parking Lot Party & Taco Eating Contest (Friday)

New Cape Coral restaurant/bar, FINS Seafood & Dive Bar will host their first Cinco de Mayo event this Friday.

Cinco de FINS Parking Lot Party & Taco Eating Contest will feature an evening of food, drinks, and fun.

During the event there will be $3 specials on 16oz. Pacifico, Negro Modelo, and Corona Light drafts, as well as 16oz. Carona cans, and Margaritas. Premium Tequila will also be on special for $5 per drink.

In addition to the drink specials, there will be a taco eating contest. See how many tacos you can put down in five minutes for your chance to win great prizes. The cost to enter the taco eating contest is $20 per person, with proceeds going to the Hope Hospice located in Cape Coral.

There will also be a pinata set up ready for bashing.

Cinco de FINS Parking Lot Party & Taco Eating Contest takes place this Friday, May 5 from 11:00am to 11:00pm. FINS Seafood & Dive Bar is located at 3422 Del Prado Blvd. S.

Free Water Safety Day (Saturday)

The Yacht Club Pool is partnering with the Cape Coral Police and Fire Departments to present a day of water safety education and awareness.

Event highlights will include door prizes, poster contest, pool fencing and alarm vendors, CPR demos, life jacket fittings, sun safety stations, and the chance to win free swim lessons.

Refreshments will be available to purchase. Admission is free

The Free Water Safety Day event will take place this Saturday, May 6 from 10:00am to 1:00pm at the Cape Coral Yacht Club, located at 5819 Driftwood Pkwy.

Kentucky Derby Party at Overtime Pizza (Saturday)

Ladies get those fancy hats ready. Gentlemen make sure to come looking your best.

Join Overtime Pizzeria and Sports Pub this Saturday for the 143rd running of The Kentucky Derby.

Enjoy a refreshing Mint Julep and join in the fun of the day including a Ladies Hat Contest and a Best Dressed Contest. Bring some cash to bet on the horses too. Overtime will be offering some fun wagering contests and raising money for a good cause. Winnings from the 50/50 contest will be split with a great local charity, the Cape Coral Animal Shelter.

Overtime's Kentucky Derby Party takes place this Saturday, May 6 from 3:30pm to 8:00pm. Overtime Pizza is located at 1708 Cape Coral Pkwy. W.

Backstreets Summer Sing-Off Karaoke Contest Kick Off (Sunday)

Show off your talent as BackStreets Sports Bar’s hosts its annual Summer Sing-Off Karaoke Contest beginning this weekend.

This year's summer-long contest features over $1,800 in prizes.

Open to soloists only, singers have 14 weeks to make the finals, and the grand prize winner will take home $1,000 in cash.

Semi-final competitions will be held at Backstreets at 9:30pm every Sunday from May 7 to August 6, 2017. Registration starts at 9:00pm, and all singers must register by start time.

Singers pick their songs. Decibel readers will determine weekly semi-final winners by crowd applause. All contestants and audience must be age 21 or older. BackStreets is a 21+ establishment.

Each weekly, the semi-final winner will receive a $25 BackStreets gift card. At the finals, third place receives $100 cash, second place gets $400 cash, and first place gets $1,000 cash.

The contest is free to enter.
