City to host 26th annual Arbor Day Tree Planting Celebration, Apr. 28

The City of Cape Coral’s Parks and Recreation Department will host the 26th Annual Arbor Day Tree Planting Celebration on Friday, April 28.

The event will begin at 11:00am and take place Sirenia Vista Park, located at 3916 Ceitus Parkway. 

Several trees donated by the City and LCEC will be planted at the environmental park.Th e public is invited to attend.

This also will mark the 26th consecutive year the City of Cape Coral has been recognized as a Tree City USA. The Arbor Day Foundation, in cooperation with the National Association of State Foresters and the U.S. Forest Service, sponsors the Tree City USA program. Tree City USA recognizes communities that have proven their commitment to an effective, ongoing community forestry program.  

To become a Tree City USA, a community must meet four standards: a legally constituted tree board, a community tree ordinance, a comprehensive community forestry program supported by a minimum of $2 per capita, and an Arbor Day Proclamation and public tree planting ceremony. Communities must reapply for the Tree City USA designation annually.
