Koogler Homes completes one-of-a-kind luxury custom estate in The Hermitage

Luxury custom home builder Don Koogler, President of Koogler Homes, recently completed the Bluefin Bay estate home in The Hermitage community in the southwest section of Cape Coral.

The 8,515-total-square-foot private residence with four bedrooms, five baths, and two half baths features an array of custom finishes crafted by hand. The overall motif of the house is fish related, including fish-patterned pavers, a wall mural in the elevator shaft, custom-blown glass décor and other features throughout.

The master suite overlooking the infinity edge pool and waterfront features a morning bar, sliding doors that completely open to the lanai, and a bathroom with a large walk-through shower with rain heads, glass-weave tile wall, and a two-piece bathtub. Other stand-out features in the home include 24-inch by 24-inch marble floors, custom wine room with custom wrought-iron door and wine barrel wood, custom faux finishing and wall murals, 9-inch baseboards, oak floors custom made in Fort Myers, and different decorative ceilings throughout.

Kitchen features include Bosch and Sub-Zero appliances, refrigerator and freezer drawers, a custom paneled refrigerator, custom all-wood cabinets, and a 15-foot curved breakfast bar made of stone that seats seven. Every Koogler Homes kitchen is complexly different than the others — no two are alike.

The centerpiece of the outdoor lifestyle on the first level encompasses a 1,390-square-foot space with spacious seating groups that accommodate large groups, a 90-inch TV, fireplace, 10-foot fire pit, and a full kitchen with sink, refrigerator, and dishwasher. Plus, a resort-style pool, shallow-water lounge chairs, spa and two fire bowls. The outdoor space also includes a bench custom made of wood from a 100-year-old barn, which sits within an area that has 900 individual plantings that give the backyard space a lush pop of green.

The second level is a guest loft with two bedrooms, a game room with full-wall bar, laundry, and a 738-square-foot balcony with fireplace and 85-inch TV.

The Bluefin Bay is already a multi-award winner, including the Cape Coral Construction Industry Association’s 2017 Builders’ Showcase Best Overall Winner.

“The owners wanted a custom one-of-a-kind home that blends indoor and outdoor living seamlessly and plenty of space for family and other guests, and that’s exactly what we built for them,” Koogler said. “And during the homebuilding process, we were able to build in other ideas that hadn't been thought of to make the residence even more astonishing. It’s a unique home, just for them, and will never be replicated.”

Koogler Homes’ founder and owner Don Koogler is a master craftsman who has been creating luxury residences in Florida since 1996. He moved from Iowa, where it all began at the age of 12. In his spare time, he helped his dad and grandfather in the remodeling business, initially cleaning up worksites and later graduating to renovations. At 19 years old, he decided to focus on new-home construction. Stepping out from underneath his dad’s wing he launched Koogler Construction. When he moved to Southwest Florida, he had 25 years of new-home construction under his belt. He then launched a homebuilding company and refined his focus to creating custom homes exclusively.

Koogler Homes is located at 434 S.E. 47 Terrace Suite B, Cape Coral, FL 33904. Call (239) 542-4540 for more information. Online at KooglerHomes.com.

LeeSar building on solid foundation

LeeSar is set to begin vertical construction of one of the largest building projects to hit Lee County this year.  As 60 concrete panels are pulled up, set in place and braced to form the external shell over the next week, this innovative organization continues to think outside of the box when it comes to medical supply chain solutions to better serve healthcare providers and patients in the community.

“We service all of EMS and the fire departments from Collier to Charlotte County, 80 physician offices and day surgery clinics, and about 22 hospitals; not to mention the medical village going up in Estero, the Gulf Coast Medical Center expansion and Golisano Children’s Hospital which will open soon,” says Bob Simpson, President and CEO of LeeSar/CSF. “With the expansion, we’re also adding 40-50 new job openings.”

LeeSar is currently undergoing a $20 million expansion that requires a 300-ton crawler crane to lift the concrete panels and erect the external walls.  It will take ten tractor trailers to deliver all the crane components to the site, and another crane to erect it. During the 5-day tilt wall erection process, just over 8,000,000 lbs. (4,000 tons) of concrete will be lifted and set into place.

The operation currently runs 24/7 with a dedicated workforce of nearly 500 employees.  In 1998, Lee Health and Sarasota Memorial Healthcare System developed LeeSar as a means to reduce costs for medical goods and services while providing safe, high-quality patient care. They have since been joined by Central Florida Health, Huntsville Hospital in Huntsville, Alabama, and numerous outpatient and surgery centers.

“Existing member hospitals are planning expansion and growth, and we have to be prepared to service them. There are also constant inquiries from others who would like to join, so we have to anticipate adding new members,” explains Simpson.  “We began construction in October to add 90,000 sq. ft., anticipating this growth and preparing for the future to best serve our caregivers and their patients.”

Simpson joined LeeSar/CSF in 2002, and has led the organization with 18-20 percent growth annually. LeeSar boasts a near perfect record of a 98 percent fill rate for more than 4,000 stock products, ensuring medical professionals have the tools and supplies needed to deliver high-quality care to patients. CSF pricing is among the best 5 percent in the nation when compared to similar sized operations – the result of successfully negotiating with manufacturers directly.

What began as 30 employees staffed in a Lehigh Acres warehouse has evolved into an industry leader by adapting to meet the challenges health care faces today. LeeSar is always researching best practices in health care and other major industries and has earned a reputation as an entrepreneurial company that develops innovative supply chain solutions to meet client’s needs.

“Organizations today need to be fluid,” explains Simpson. “Rather than a strategic plan we focus on our mission and adding value to the health care system, because that is solid.”
