Out&About: Lighting up the boulevard

If you’re driving down Del Prado, in the heart of Cape Coral and you see twinkling lights, a fun group of dancers, and live music on the patio, you are most likely looking at Anthony’s On The Blvd.

Owner, Tony Serrago, has put his heart into inviting residents and visitors to come in and enjoy their evening with variety and entertainment including; live music, comedy nights, customer appreciation days and holiday events. Saturday night was no different, with live music from the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s, a full menu and a great crowd.

My first photo led me to a wealth of information and the opportunity for next week’s “Out&About”. Bobby Dooley was enjoying the evening with his wife Cherrie and daughter Nicole. It was a family affair as their son Sean played in the band. Next week we hope to see him and his family again as he and Sean take the stage together with their six piece band, “Redemption”. We will have to veer a little off course and take our “Out&Abouting” over to Matlacha for an evening at Micelis. And that sounds good to me. We absolutely love Cape Coral and there is plenty to do right here in our great city, but once in awhile we don’t mind a little mini break down to the island to see a new friend. We will let you know how that goes next week or you can just come on down and see for yourself.

Anthony’s seemed to be the place Saturday night for entertainers to enjoy their evenings off. Papa Tommy, another local singer and friend of Bobby, was enjoying his evening with Joanne. Jim Cottrell swore he wasn’t going to smile as I snapped my pic of him and his group Louise Thorton, Evelyn Cottrell, and Lisa Vagner. I am not really clear on what the relationships were. Jim made some accusations and muddied those waters a bit, almost got slapped, than came out laughing. So I think all was well. See their perfect photo of Jim not smiling on this week’s “Out&About” photo gallery.

While they were the locals having a great time, seated at the table next to them were German vacationers, Anja, Stefan, Silvia and Rudi. Sharry Laboy obviously new her way around Anthony’s dance floor, even bringing her own props to play with friends in the band. And of course all of that was captured on the CapeCoral.com cameras.

If you’re not up for the drive to Matlacha next week there is still plenty to do right here in the Cape. One in particular you won’t want to miss is the McFlats’ Invitational Texas Hold’em Poker Tournament next Friday night at The Resort at Marina Village. All proceeds will benefit the Ronald McDonald House. More information is available by contacting Jeff Miloff at 565-0831. Just pray he isn’t playing at your table.

See you all next week!
