Night Ranger to headline Cape Coral's Coconut Festival
The annual event is Friday, November 11 – Sunday, November 13. The Coconut Festival is at Sun Splash Family Waterpark festival grounds. Hours are 5 p.m. – Midnight (Friday), Noon – Midnight (Saturday) and Noon – 8 p.m. (Sunday).
With hits such as “Sister Christian,” “(You Can Still) Rock in America,” “Don’t Tell Me You Love Me,” and “Goodbye,” Night Ranger is yet another great ‘80s band to perform at the City’s signature event. “Night Ranger is the classic 80s rock band,” said Todd King, Special Events Coordinator for the City’s Parks & Recreation Department. “They can belt out power ballads like ‘Sister Christian,’ and then energize the audience with one of their hard rock hits. This will be a great concert.”
Additional entertainment for the “Coco American Rock” theme on Saturday includes Draw the Line, an Aerosmith tribute band, and local band, DVS. Also on Saturday, the main stage will feature the first “Coco Idol” contest, where local singers can take the stage to win $100 and the title of “Coco Idol.”
Friday night’s theme is “Coco British Rock,” and crowds will be entertained by two tribute bands. Nowhere Band will perform hits by the Beatles followed by Led Zepagain, a tribute band to Led Zeppelin. Fire dancers from Samoa also will entertain on Friday.
On Sunday, the second annual “Coco Cheerfest” will be held featuring some of the area’s best cheerleading squads competing for bids to the Cheer Florida state event.
The Coconut Festival is sponsored by the City of Cape Coral and Capital Bank, and features carnival rides, games, food, entertainment and fireworks. Entry is $5 per person (children under 5 years of age are free), and there is no charge for parking. For more information, visit the Coconut Festival website at www.CocoFest.com
