Foreign Beer Fest On Tap For This Weekend

The Kiwanis Club of Cape Coral will celebrate the South Cape Foreign Beer Fest this Saturday night starting at 7:00pm.

On tap for this year will 15 south Cape Coral restaurants will be fighting for the title of “Best Foreign Beer”. For $15 attendees can take a trolley to each of the 15 restaurants and receive free beer samples and appetizers at all locations.

Unlike a typical festival where patrons travel the street going from booth to booth, the Foreign Beer Fest is set up to bring people to different restaurants throughout south Cape Coral, “We wanted people to go from place to place because we think it is a great way to promote all of the local restaurants that we have in south Cape Coral,” says Kiwanis President Sam Huber.

On tap for this year’s festival will 15 south Cape Coral restaurants fighting for the title of “Best Foreign Beer”. For $15 attendees can take a trolley or mini-bus to each of the 15 restaurants and receive free beer samples and appetizers at all locations. They will also vote for their choice of the top three foreign beers.

Cash prizes of $500, $300 and $100 will be awarded to the top three public choice vote getters, as well as a banner to be displayed for the year at their establishment.

There will also be a panel of “celebrity” judges nominating three locations for their beer selection, presentation and atmosphere. The top three choices from the celebrity judges will also be awarded $500, $300 and $100 prizes.

This is the first year the Kiwanis Club of Cape Coral is sponsoring the event and all proceeds from the festival will go to the club’s Back Pack Program. The two year old program works to feed needy families in Lee County. Each week nearly 1,000 backpacks are delivered to Lee County schools for in-need students to share with their families. The backpacks have enough food in them to feed three people for three days. The program in total provides 9,000 meals each week to those in need in Lee County.

If you are interested in participating in this year’s festival, check-in booths will be open at 6:30pm and will be located in the Big John Plaza and Leapin’ Lizard. Remember to park in the public parking lots and the trolleys will be available to ride to all other locations. All participants wanting to ride the trolleys will need to check-in and be given event wristbands and a ballot to vote for their three favorite beers. The wristbands will get you on the trolley and entrance into each location. There will also be a courtesy “Post Event” trolley that will run until 1:00am.
