Cape Coral Friends of Wildlife is a volunteer organization dedicated to preserving and enhancing the habitat of protected wildlife species and educating the community about its natural resources. CCFW welcomes people from all walks of life who love wildlife and want to contribute their time and energy to our cause. Residents, business people, artisans, promoters, builders, people with computer skills and those who enjoy spending time outside – all are welcome.

We also encourage Cape Coral citizens to take responsibility for the protection of the Burrowing Owl by participating in the “Adopt a Burrow” program. Residents are asked to volunteer to monitor and maintain one or more Burrowing Owl burrows in their neighborhood. Training is given on the proper way to keep burrows from becoming overgrown with weeds.

Cape Coral Friends of Wildlife is the proud sponsor of the Burrowing Owl Festival. This annual event, held in February, is attended by thousands of people who come to learn more about this unique bird and the habitat and environment that draws them to Cape Coral.
