Nearly 300 artists will participate in the 2017 Cape Coral Festival of Arts.

Ranging from jewelry to photography, the festival of arts hosts a wide array of artists.

To participate in the festival, artists must submit three images of their recent work. Only original work is allowed to be displayed at the festival.

Once the artist's work is submitted, it is then carefully reviewed by the festival committee for final approval before being accepted as one of the festival's displaying artist.

The festival displays art from six different categories.

During the festival, a judge, chosen by the event's organizers, reviews the artists' work and awards the top three pieces of art in each category. The judge also awards one artist “Best of Show” as the overall winner of the festival each year.

This year's judge is Dr. Amy Galpin.

Dr. Galpin is currently the curator of the Cornell Fine Arts Museum (CFAM) at Rollins College.

She earned her M.A. in Latin American studies from San Diego State University and her Ph.D. in art history at the University of Illinois-Chicago. In addition to curatorial experience, Dr. Galpin previously served as a part-time faculty member at DePaul University and as an adjunct faculty member at Columbia College and University of Illinois-Chicago.
