Bruce Faubert Barker
After a courageous battle with cancer Bruce Faubert Barker passed away on March 12, 2017 at 71 years of age.
He had vacationed in Cape Coral, FL for the last 23 years before becoming a permanent resident five years ago. Born in Nyack, New York he resided in South Jersey for 50 years. Bruce had spent his career in carpentry and cabinetry. He was a talented self-taught craftsman, and eventually opened his own carpentry business, Barker Craft, which he operated for 12 years. After selling his successful business to Intelco, he served as a consultant to the new owners until retiring. Bruce had a real passion for boating, and even served as a Cape Coral volunteer Marine Police. Another passion of his were his beloved pups Cosmo and Desi who he enjoyed taking to the Wagging Tails Dog Park. Bruce made many wonderful friends in Cape Coral who will forever keep his memory in their hearts.
He will be dearly missed by his loving wife of 32 years, Andrea Barker; sons, Clifford (Cheryl) Barker of NY, Darrell (Yolanda) Barker of TX, and Dean (Christiana) Barker of NH; step-sons, J. Michael Hosier, and Charles (Stacey) Hosier of NJ; as well as grandchildren, Sean, Jason, Arden, Devyn, Matthew, Khayla, Travis, Tandie, Cody, Oliver, Sawyer, and Logan. He was preceded in death by brother, David Barker.
A celebration of Bruce’s life will be held at a date to be determined sometime in April. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to either the American Cancer Society www.cancer.org or to the new Cape Coral Animal Shelter at www.capecoralanimalshelter.com.
