On the Agenda: Cape Coral City Council Meeting Preview (June 12)

The city council will hold its final regular voting meeting on Monday afternoon before going on its annual summer hiatus later this month.

The meeting is scheduled to begin at 4:30pm in Council Chambers at City Hall, located at 1015 Cultural Park Blvd., Cape Coral. The meeting is open to the public.

City ends one day a week watering restrictions

Cape Coral City Manager John Szerlag announced Friday afternoon that the city is rescinding its one day per week lawn watering restrictions.

The restrictions were put in place in early May due to recent drought conditions in Southwest Florida that saw Cape Coral canal water levels receding to dangerously low levels.

City to conduct parking survey June 9-10 on SE 47th Terr.

The City of Cape Coral will be conducting a parking survey on Friday, June 9 and Saturday, June 10.

The survey will take place between 10:00am and 1:00am on SE 47th Terrace from Coronado Parkway to Del Prado Boulevard. 

The parking survey will be done by inspectors with the City’s Public Works Department with assistance from the Cape Coral Police Department. The parking survey will help the city determine where and when parking areas are being used, and if current available parking is adequate for the area.

Medical marijuana moratorium, tiny houses discussed at council COW meeting

On Monday, the city council held their monthly Committee of the Whole (COW) Meeting in Council Chambers at City Hall.

Among the topics discussed at the meeting were a proposed temporary moratorium on medical marijuana dispensaries in Cape Coral, and the possibility of allowing for the construction of "Tiny Houses" within city limits.

The city council holds COW meetings on the fourth Monday of each month. The meetings are non-voting meetings and used for discussion of upcoming items at regular city council meetings.
