Builders' Showcase, new Forbes list highlights recovering real estate market

The Cape Coral Construction Industry Association’s Builders' Showcase of Homes felt the impact of rainy weather over the past three weekends.

However, not all was wet during the event, two weekends ago, the good weather made for a very busy day at Turnkey Homes’ house on SW 49th Lane, said greeter Kathy Cobb.

The rain may have dampened the enthusiasm of potential buyers at least twice during the event involving homes in various price categories. However, some good news about the city's real estate market came out of the blue from Forbes magazine during the event.

Cape Coral's Back Streets Sports Bar celebrates 20 years in business

In the mid-1990’s, Cape Coral’s nightlife scene was filled with such bars as Champs, Smokin’ Joes, Ralph’s Place, Cruiser’s Lounge, Del Prado Inn’s Tiki Bar, and others.

A popular fixture in the nightlife scene was local bartender Shelly LaPaglia. Working at Champs and the Tiki Bar, LaPaglia built up a strong following amongst local bar patrons.

In 1995, LaPaglia decided that instead of simply working for tips, she would strike out on her own, “I wanted to make a job for myself and be my own boss,” recalls LaPaglia.
